I started following Lorraine Loots on Instagram a couple of months ago, and I’m so glad that she’s receiving the recognition that she deserves.  In 2013 Lorraine embarked on a project called 365 Paintings for Ants.  Every day during the year, she painted a tiny painting (most are less than 30mm x 300mm) that she then shared on Instagram and her Tumblr site.  The subjects of her paintings were incredibly varied, ranging from animals to landscapes and still life.  I still can’t get over the amount of detail that she achieves on such a small scale.

The good news is that Lorraine is back in 2014 with a new project, called 365 Postcards for Ants.  Since Cape Town is the World Design Capital for 2014, every painting will be inspired by Cape Town life.  Each painting is available to purchase from her site (framed), or you have the option of purchasing one of the 5 limited prints that will be available.  You can even reserve a specific date, and Lorraine will paint something designed specifically for you (what an amazing gift idea).  Take some time to browse through her Tumblr feed and website, I promise that you won’t be disappointed!  You can also watch the video below to find out more about this talented lady.
