I’ve had a little spurt of thrifting lately. Last week I shared some of my vintage finds with you, but I also recently bought this bamboo magazine rack from our local charity shop.
I thought it could do with a bit of a make-over, so I trotted off to the hardware store for some spray paint. I initially wanted to spray the whole thing grey, but everyone else seemed to have the same plan (it’s definitely the IN colour at the moment), so I had to settle for some white instead.
I chose this Rust-oleum paint mainly because it was advertised as Paint + Primer (and let’s be honest, who has time for primer?), but also because my mom had used it for her cane furniture with really good results. I didn’t prepare the bamboo in any way (no sanding etc), and the paint went on really well, with a good amount of coverage (although it was a bit messy). Two coats was enough to cover all the nooks and crannies.
I also used some acrylic craft paint to add some grey accents – I’m quite happy with the way it turned out.
