I don’t usually blog about beauty products, but I thought I’d share some of my favourite lipstick/stains from the last few months.  I don’t really like to wear lipstick, mainly because I don’t like the feel of it, but I’ve become more aware of the effect that it can have on my appearance when I do wear it (as a very pale person, it helps a lot to have some colour on my lips to prevent me from looking too washed out).  So here’s a review of my current lip faves.

fave lipsticks thingsdeeloves-5I love the Essence make-up brand, mostly because it’s so affordable, so I don’t feel guilty about popping an item into my shopping basket every now and then.  I’ve only tried the lipsticks very recently, and I’m really impressed.  They are very light, but give a good amount of colour, and last for quite a while before you require re-application.  Best of all, they’re only R32.95.

fave lipsticks thingsdeeloves-4I picked up these Revlon Lip Butters when they were on special at Clicks recently (R40 each instead of R120).  These are also very light, and have a silky texture similar to a lip balm (as the name implies).  The two colours that I have don’t give very much colour, since they are very pale, but they do give a nice shimmery sheerness.  If you prefer more colour I’d recommend one of the darker shades.

fave lipsticks thingsdeeloves-6I also picked these up on a 2-for-1 special (can you tell that I’m a bargain hunter?).  These Revlon Balm Stains offer more colour than texture, and the colour lasts a lot longer.  These retail for about R120.

Right, moving on from lipsticks.  I recently had the chance to try some yummy cocktails.  The nice folks at Original Cocktails sent me a box of Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina Colada to try out, and they arrived just in time for the long weekend (yay).  These cocktails come conveniently packaged in a slim box that fits easily into your fridge, perfect for your next pool party or hot Summer day.

The cocktails were very tasty, although I enjoyed the Pina Colada more than the Daiquiri, which was a bit sweet for my taste.  The cocktails are also offered as cool packs which can be frozen to give an iced cocktail.

They’ve also given me a party pack of 6 iced cocktails to give away to one of my readers!  To enter, leave a comment below and let me know which of the Original Cocktails you’d like to try (see the full range here).  You can also check out this map to find your nearest stockist.  The winner will be selected randomly on Thursday, and must be a resident of Cape Town who is willing to collect their prize from me in Observatory/Mowbray (sorry to all the non-CT folks!).
