Hellooo? Anybody out there?
Goodness, it’s been a while since I’ve logged on here (actually, just over a year). This little blog has been on my mind recently, and I’ve been toying with the idea of returning. I’m still not sure if this will become a regular thing, but I do have some ideas lined up which I’d like to share, so let’s just play it by ear.
Oh my, a lot has happened in the past year. Actually, the last two years have been pretty crazy. We started off 2015 by buying our first house, which was pretty stressful, but also exciting. We bought an old house in a lovely family neighbourhood, with a cottage next door for my wonderful mom. We’ve done quite a bit over the last 18 months (more on that a bit later), but of course, things keep being added to the list!
Then we got a dog. Apprently four cats aren’t enough (Kevin & Cookie, plus my mom’s two), so we headed off to TEARS to choose another four-legged friend. The day before we were due to fetch Harvey, I found out I was pregnant. And so began yet another crazy/exciting/overwhelming adventure.
I was incredibly fortunate to have a relatively easy pregnancy (apart from intense abdominal cramps during most of my first trimester). In December we decided that we needed some more excitement, so we embarked on what every sane, normal couple would do: major home renovations.
Has anyone ever had a stress-free renovation process, that went according to plan? I didn’t think so. This was further complicated by the fact that I started a new job in January (yes, at 5 months pregnant).
Fast forward a few months, to when we welcomed our beloved Evan Jonathan Smith to the world. I never anticipated that something could bring such intense joy to my life, coupled with such intense sleep deprivation. And we still had builders traipsing through our house the week that we brought him home! Evan is now 7 months old, and keeping us on our toes with his smiley, busy little personality.
So here we are: in the past eighteen months we’ve gained a house, a dog, a new career, and a baby. Shew. But life has finally started to settle down a bit, and I’m hoping to spend a bit more time with you. Let’s see how that goes, shall we?
