This last weekend I made my very first amigurumi animal.  I’d actually never heard of amigurumi before, but my mom shared this cute pattern with me, and I thought I’d give it a try.  Amigurumi is a Japanese trend of knitting or crocheting small animals.  According to Wikipedia, the word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.

This is Mr Murasaki, the pattern I based my own little owl on (thanks to Craft Passion).  Isn’t he cute?

So I got to work making Mrs Murasaki.  I have to admit that it wasn’t easy, it was very fiddly and small, especially in the beginning, but I think she came out quite nicely.

I used some of the leftover 4-ply from my Happypotamus, with a 3mm hook.  I think she’s really sweet, she’s currently snoozing on my bedside table xxx
